Inspiration: The everyday.
One night, while walking, I came across a simple, modest house standing beside a lamppost. There was nothing particularly remarkable about the house itself, yet beneath the soft glow of the streetlight, it looked unexpectedly beautiful. The quietness of the scene and the way the light transformed such an ordinary place stayed with me, and I wanted to recreate that moment through my own technique.
This piece is entirely handmade by me from beginning to end. I draw the original idea directly onto the canvas, develop the composition organically, tuft the piece, and finish it by mounting it onto a wooden backing and adding the hanging cord.
Because each work begins with an organic drawing process directly on the canvas, I never recreate the same piece twice. Every work I make is completely unique.
As this piece is entirely handmade, subtle variations in colour, texture, fibre length and finish are to be expected. These natural irregularities are an inherent part of the tufting process and contribute to the individuality and character of the artwork.
The piece comes mounted on wood and includes a cord on the back, making it ready to hang easily on the wall.
The person who takes this work home will own an entirely original piece, a one-of-a-kind artwork that will never be replicated.
