Inspiration
Inspired by recent events and the latest eclipse, Eclipse began with the idea of turning a moment of darkness into something luminous.
I wanted to reinterpret the eclipse not through a dark sky, but through light, colour and movement. The materials I chose create a sky with an almost watery quality; shifting between tones and textures, as though the sky itself were in motion. I loved the way this unexpected combination came together and gave the piece a surreal, almost dreamlike atmosphere.
I also added a small star appliqué as a symbol of transformation, new beginnings and the light that emerges after change.
The Piece
Eclipse is entirely handmade by me, from start to finish, using the tufting technique.
I worked with two different pile lengths to create a raised, dimensional effect across the moon, sun and frame. This gives the elements a subtle pop-out quality, making the piece appear almost three-dimensional, an effect I wanted to capture in the photographs.
The work is mounted on a wooden backing and finished with a hanging cord, making it ready to be easily displayed on the wall.

This is a completely unique, original artwork.
I never make the same piece twice. Every artwork I create is made as a one-off, meaning Eclipse will not be reproduced, replicated or made into copies in any form 💙
