Big Puppy Eyes
Big Puppy Eyes
Dimensions: approximately 13 × 9 in (33 × 23 cm)
Technique: Tufting, using two different pile lengths to create a subtle pop-out effect.
Big Puppy Eyes is inspired by two of the most beautiful and distinctive sighthound breeds: Greyhounds and Whippets. There is something incredibly special about the way these dogs look when they are young—their delicate features, impossibly long snouts, elegant silhouettes, and especially those oversized puppy eyes that somehow make them look both graceful and unbelievably adorable.
I wanted to capture that feeling in a piece that celebrates the beauty of dogs in a slightly unexpected way. To me, there is something almost sculptural about Greyhounds and Whippets: their shape, their proportions, their softness, and the way they carry themselves. They are beautiful, unique, and a little bit strange in the best possible way.
There is simply something about a dog that feels impossible not to love. And what could be more beautiful than taking that feeling and turning it into art?
The piece is tufted by hand using two different pile lengths, giving the design a dimensional, tactile quality and making the figure subtly pop from the background. It is finished with a wood backing and a hanging cord, making it easy to display directly on the wall.
This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork. I never make the same piece twice, and there will be no replicas of this work. Once this piece finds its home, it will be the only Big Puppy Eyes that exists.
