Inspiration
I have always been drawn to houses that exist somewhere in the middle of nowhere — houses surrounded by trees, sitting quietly within a landscape, or simply standing alone against the vastness of nature.
For this piece, I was inspired by two houses I came across: one in Wales and another in Scotland. Both had something that immediately caught my attention, a house positioned between a mountain behind it and water stretching out in front. There was something incredibly beautiful and almost cinematic about these landscapes: the feeling of a home quietly existing between two powerful elements of nature.
Houses have always been an important element within my work, and this piece was no exception. I was also particularly drawn to the colours of the landscape, not the bright, saturated tones of summer, but the softer, more muted palette of nature moving towards autumn and winter. That transition in colour and atmosphere became an important part of the creation of this piece.
The Making
This artwork was created entirely by me, from the initial drawing to the final finishing touches. The design is drawn organically directly onto the canvas, allowing the image to develop naturally rather than following a perfectly predetermined composition.
I then hand-tuft the entire piece myself, using two different tufting techniques to create a subtle pop-out effect across the mountain, house, water and frame. The varying textures and levels of the tufting give the landscape a sense of depth, allowing each element to emerge from the canvas in its own way.
Once the tufting is complete, I finish the piece by hand with wood and add a cord to the back, making it ready to hang easily on the wall.
A One-of-a-Kind Piece
This is a completely original artwork, made entirely by hand from beginning to end.
Because my work is created through an organic process, I never reproduce the same piece twice. Each drawing develops differently, and the handmade nature of the tufting means that no two artworks can ever be exactly alike.
Owning an Inner Dopamine piece therefore means owning something genuinely unique — an artwork that exists only once, made by hand and with its own individual character.
